Earlier this month in Paraburdoo, something special took place.
People came together for a yarn, a chance to sit, listen, share stories and really hear one another. There was no rush, just conversation, connection and respect. It was a space where every voice mattered.
Throughout the sessions, people spoke about what being Yinhawangka means to them. They shared what they’re proud of, what matters most right now, and what kind of future they want to see for their children and grandchildren. There were thoughtful conversations, good food on the table, and moments that invited reflection.
These weren’t just discussions, they were honest, meaningful conversations that highlighted the knowledge, strength and care within the community. Every story shared contributed to a bigger picture of who Yinhawangka people are and where the future is heading.
As the sun went down, the day closed in the best way possible, with an evening BBQ under the stars. People relaxed, had a laugh, and enjoyed being together outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of Paraburdoo and Yinhawangka Country.
What was shared during these sessions is important. These voices will help shape a shared Yinhawangka vision and values, guiding the work of the organisations and helping ensure everyone is moving forward together.
