General Manager – Corporate Services
We’d like to introduce Tara Townsend, YAC’s General Manager – Corporate Services.
Tara returned to Western Australia after spending the previous 20 years living and working on Larrakia Country and across Arnhem Land. With a background in finance, governance and corporate services, she has spent much of her career working in the community services sector.
Tara says she was drawn to YAC because of its commitment to self-determination.
“I wanted to contribute my skills to work led by Yinhawangka People. I wanted to be part of an organisation where members set the direction, make decisions and define what a strong future looks like.”
Tara is looking forward to getting to know Yinhawangka members and the YAC team, listening to what matters most to the community, and supporting the direction set by members.
She also wants members to know that she’s approachable, genuine and committed to following through on what she says. She’s excited to continue learning and isn’t afraid to ask questions along the way.
Fun fact: Tara might be small in stature, but she loves lifting heavy things at the gym! Just don’t ask her to eat anything too spicy — she jokes that even pepper can be a bit much!
