We’d like to introduce Sudeep Ghatak, YAC’s Head of Change & Transformation.
A key focus of Sudeep’s role is helping turn YAC’s Modernised Agreement with Rio Tinto into practical ways of working.
He works across YAC and Rio Tinto to coordinate implementation, develop processes and tools, establish clear reporting and governance, and support both organisations as new ways of working are introduced.
For Sudeep, the work is about making sure the commitments within the agreement translate into meaningful and lasting change.
“This agreement is a landmark for the Yinhawangka People, and my job is to turn it from a signed document into the way two organisations actually operate — watching commitments made at the negotiating table become real processes, real decisions and real outcomes on Country.”
Looking ahead, Sudeep is particularly focused on the transition from the Interim Agreement to the final Modernised Agreement and ensuring the systems and governance established through this work are built to last.
For Sudeep, success means creating a co-management approach supported by strong structures rather than individual personalities — building capability that can continue well into the future.
A side you might not expect
There’s quite an adventurous side to Sudeep!
He is ex-military and served as a Colonel, has led an expedition and summited Mount Kanchenjunga, the third-highest mountain in the world, and is also a trained skydiver with a love of adventure sports.
