On 28 May 2026, the Living Cultures Program launched its first Open Door session in Paraburdoo, creating a welcoming space for Yinhawangka People and the wider community to connect, share ideas and discuss matters important to the community.
The Open Door sessions were established as a regular opportunity for community members to sit down with the Living Cultures team, learn more about the program and have open conversations about community priorities.
The inaugural session welcomed Yinhawangka Foundation CEO Joanne Headlam, along with representatives from the Shire of Ashburton and WA Police.
Conversations covered a range of topics, including education, the development of the Yinhawangka Museum and Cultural Centre, housing and health. The discussions highlighted the importance of creating spaces where people can come together, share perspectives and strengthen connections across the community.
Open Door sessions continue to provide an informal and welcoming opportunity for Yinhawangka People and community members to connect with the Living Cultures team and contribute to conversations about the program and broader community priorities.
